Alphonse La Paglia was born in Sicily in 1907, he studied silversmithing in Denmark with Georg Jensen. By the early 1940’s he had arrived in New York and was creating jewelry and silverware for Fredrick Lunning (soon to become Georg Jensen USA Inc). By 1952 La Paglia is well established as a modernist designer of silver & jewelry, and with Kurt Eric Christofferson formed The International Sterling Crafts Associates. Unfortunately, in 1953 La Paglia died, leaving his designs in the hands of International, who continued to use his designs until 1957
